What to See

We welcome everyone to explore our spectacular Gilded Age mansion, beautiful curated gardens, immersive nature center, interactive farm and rescued animal habitats—and to find moments of wonder while you wander our rolling hills.

The Robins Nature Center at Maymont

The Robins Nature Center

Themed “Run of the River,” The Robins Nature Center highlights the remarkable ecology of the James River located along Maymont’s southern border in Richmond. The experience also emphasizes the natural history of the area and environmental stewardship opportunities for the community.

Gorgeous Gardens

Maymont's gardens are like nothing else in the City of Richmond—expansive, unique, well-maintained and ever-changing. No public garden today could dream of duplicating Maymont’s magic, to say nothing of its costly architecture, grand trees or diversity of plants. Explore the Italian Garden, Japanese Garden, the Arboretum, and several specialty gardens.

Maymont Mansion

Maymont Mansion is a well-preserved document of Gilded Age design and the taste of well-educated, cosmopolitan millionaires. The house also illustrates the dynamic interplay between server and served, working class and upper class and Black and white through a compelling exhibition in its restored belowstairs rooms – the culmination of a decade-long research project that was completed in 2005.

Maymont Farm

Friendly farm animals are the big draw at the Maymont Farm, a popular destination for families and animal lovers. The area offers hands-on animal encounters and insight into farm life where children and adults alike are delighted by the crow of a rooster, the feel of a sheep’s wool and the nudge of a hungry goat.

Virginia Wildlife Trail

Take a walk on the wild side, at Maymont’s outdoor wildlife habitats. All habitats feature Virginia native species (historic and present), most of which are wildlife rescues, in our 40-acre valley. Animals in our Raptor Valley, Bobcat, Red Fox, Black Bear, and Bald Eagle habitats are on view daily by 10am and move back indoors late afternoon.

"Maymont is so picturesque it's unreal... 5/5 a Richmond must-see."
