Hop on Over to Maymont for 100 Acres of Family Fun at Dominion Energy Family Easter, Saturday, April 4!
Richmond, Virginia – On Saturday, April 4, from 9am to 3pm, all of Maymont will be hopping with family fun at Dominion Energy Family Easter! Across the 100-acre grounds, families can spend the day playing games, creating crafts and enjoying live entertainment on three stages. Kids can meet the Easter Bunny, baby farm animals and magical princesses, plus Richmond’s own Nutzy and Nutasha, as well as local heroes and helpers, like firefighters, EMTs and public safety professionals.
“For 100 years, Maymont has been a favorite gathering place for the Richmond community,” said Parke Richeson, Maymont President and CEO. “With the gardens in bloom, baby animals at Maymont Farm and Maymont Mansion open once again, Dominion Energy Family Easter will be extra special this year.”
Games and activities for all ages will be spread out from the Carriage House Lawn to Maymont Farm, with inflatable sports games, a life-sized Candy Adventure course, a hop-stacle course, festival-style games, temporary tattoos, and hands-on crafts like Easter bonnet-making. Many games come with a choice of activities, toys or prizes, so everyone should bring an Easter basket to carry home the bounty!
The fun includes photo ops with the Easter Bunny, presented by Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods, and meeting local heroes and helpers in the Community Zone, where kids can peer inside their trucks and check out all their special gear. Richmond Public Library, Feed More and other family-oriented groups will offer fun activities in the Community Zone, too, not to mention adorable pups from the Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation parading in their best Easter bonnets!
Throughout the day, live entertainment will fill three stages, featuring Jonathan the Juggler, the SPARC Touring Ensemble, the Swingers Jump Rope Team, Richmond Urban Dance, plus Maymont’s animal ambassadors. At The Robins Nature Center, kids will enjoy a Bubble Zone, hula hoops, a Chalk Zone and hopscotch games, along with a live DJ from Bach 2 Rock spinning tunes all day. At Maymont Farm, magical princesses and adorable baby farm animals will greet guests, as well as games, food vendors and tractors to climb on.
Plus, Maymont’s gardens and grounds will be in full bloom, Maymont Mansion will be open for self-guided tours, and miles of trails and lawns will be primed for picnics, with treats available for purchase from popular local food trucks. All three entrances to Maymont will be open for the event.
Admission is just $7 for adults, $5 for children (1-16) and seniors (65+) — and the event is free for Maymont members and Museums for All participants. Three activity tickets are included with each admission, and additional activity tickets are just $2 each. All event proceeds help Maymont care for this beloved historic green space.
Advance reservations are recommended, with a choice of entry times — morning (9am–12pm) or afternoon (12–2:30pm) — and everyone can stay and play all day. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Maymont.org. The event is rain or shine, and tickets are non-refundable, except in the case that Maymont cancels the event.
Dominion Energy Family Easter is Maymont’s largest single-day volunteer event! Volunteers will find details and sign-up forms at maymont.org.
Parking is limited in the immediate area, so ride-sharing and public transit are strongly encouraged. The GRTC bus #78 stops nearby at Meadow Street and Nevada Avenue, just a short walk from the Hampton Street entrance. Limited free event parking is available by the Hampton Street entrance, The Robins Nature Center, and Maymont Farm. The grounds are open only with event admission until 4 pm, when Maymont will reopen to the general public until 7pm.
