Celebrate Maymont’s 100th Anniversary With a Weekend of Outdoor Concerts, Free Family Fun & Festivities, June 5-6!
Richmond, Virginia – Maymont invites the community to kick off the summer with a once-in-a-century celebration of all things Maymont!
On Friday, June 5, Maymont presents the Summer Kickoff Concert, featuring popular local bands, Full Moon Fever playing Tom Petty classics, followed by “America’s favorite yacht rock band,” Three Sheets to the Wind. Gates open at 5 pm, and the music begins on the CoStar Group Main Stage at 6 pm. A variety of local food vendors will be on site with a range of cuisines, along with craft beer, cider and wine for purchase. Event proceeds help care for Maymont all year-round.
On Saturday, June 6, Maymont opens at noon for Cheers to 100 Years, a free community festival with games and activities, a farmers market and food trucks, and a live band playing MTV hits from the ‘90s and 2000s. The entire 100 acres will be filled with free activities: Explore the newly reopened wildlife trail, tour the historic mansion and gardens, catch animal keeper talks, or just relax and soak it all in with a picnic under a majestic tree. The weekend wraps up with a Carbon Leaf concert on Saturday evening at 6 pm (tickets sold separately).
“Maymont is a unique public treasure thanks to 100 years of community love and support that has been poured into this cherished public space, so we are toasting this milestone anniversary with a feel-good community festival,” said Parke Richeson, Maymont President and CEO. “We want everyone to come out and explore this unique historic landscape, get reacquainted with our rescued native wildlife and farm animals, and perhaps discover something new, too.”
Appearing on the CoStar Group Main Stage:
Full Moon Fever is a Tom Petty cover band that pays tribute to the iconic rock musician and his band, the Heartbreakers. The band is made up of experienced musicians who are dedicated to accurately recreating the sound and energy of Tom Petty’s music. Playing hits from Petty's solo career and his time with the Heartbreakers, Full Moon Fever is known for its high-energy live shows and its ability to capture the spirit of Petty’s timeless music.
Three Sheets to the Wind performs “yacht rock” with energy and an irresistible appeal. The classic pop hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s are beloved by the band’s fans, who know these songs by heart from the party soundtrack of the era. Even new fans discovering the catchy, well-crafted tunes for the first time will find it hard to resist dancing.
On Saturday afternoon, the band Sold Separately will take to the CoStar Group stage to deliver sets of ‘90s and early 2000s hits with energy and authenticity. A powerhouse four-piece band, Sold Separately prides itself on transporting the audience to the MTV era with the ultimate throwback soundtrack, blending grunge, pop-punk and alternative hits from artists like Blink-182, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
