Families Hop to Maymont for Dominion Energy Family Easter

Release Date: March 21, 2019

Families are invited to ring in the spring season at Maymont during one of Richmond’s favorite holiday events, Dominion Energy Family Easter, on Saturday, April 20 from 10am to 3pm on the Carriage House Lawn. Guests are sure to have an egg-cellent experience as they enjoy amusing games and activities, food trucks, live entertainment, and more. The event is made possible by this year’s sponsors, Dominion Energy, Patient First and The Life Church RVA.

“Each year, families look forward to kicking off spring and celebrating Easter pastimes at this cherished event,” said Ellen Byrd, Maymont Event Associate. “Maymont is thrilled to continue its partnership with Dominion Energy to host a fun-filled day that thousands of guests can enjoy.”

Dominion Energy Family Easter is filled with fun activities for the whole family, from visits with the Easter Bunny and storytelling under the Bunny Tree, to bonnet parades and an interactive chalk zone. Kids can get crafty making Easter bonnets, express themselves with face painting and temporary tattoos, grow their green thumbs at a planting station, or partake in life-sized board games and an egg-on-spoon hop-stacle course. Guests also will revel in live entertainment by Jonathan Austin, Maymont environmental educators, local performance troupes, and more! Food will be available for purchase from Boardwalk Hot Dogs, Espresso-A-Go-Go, Gourmeltz, Happy Empanada, King of Pops, Kona Ice, Mark’s Airborne Kettle Corn, Mean Bird, Strawberry Street Café and Mrs. Yoder’s Donuts.

“We love bringing together the Richmond community, including generations of families, to celebrate spring,” said Parke Richeson, Maymont Executive Director. “Dominion Energy Family Easter not only delights thousands of attendees from across the region, but also serves as an important fundraiser that enables us to care for Maymont and keep it open, accessible and free, year-round.”

Tickets are $2 each and are required for most activities. For each ticket redeemed, participants will receive an Easter egg filled with a treat. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted for ticket purchases. For more information, call 804-358-7166 or visit maymont.org/easter.

Families are encouraged to make the most of their day at Maymont by visiting the baby goats, ducklings and piglets at the Maymont Farm, exploring the Nature Center exhibits on the aquatic and terrestrial animals that inhabit the James River watershed, and stepping back in time during a family-friendly tour of the Maymont Mansion.

Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation. The Foundation must raise more than $3 million each year through donations to keep the estate open to the public.
