Vintage Maymont Fundraiser Brings In $353,000 for Maymont

Maymont Introduces Broad-Winged Hawk to Raptor Valley

A new female broad-winged hawk made its Maymont debut in September, joining the vultures, owls, and other hawks in Raptor Valley. The bird was donated to Maymont from a rehabber located in Warrenton, Virginia after being found in the road with head and eye trauma – likely the result of being hit by a car – and deemed non-releasable by veterinarians. Time Travelers: A Free Weekend of Richmond History Featuring 18 Historic Sites in the Region

Otterly Exciting News from Maymont

They’re coming! Richmond’s favorite aquatic mammals, North American river otters (Lontra canadensis), will delight guests at Maymont once again beginning Tuesday, May 16. A male and a female, both approximately two years old, will live in the otter exhibit at the Robins Nature & Visitor Center. Read more.

Retired Race Horse Joins Maymont Carriage Team

A horse named Solo won’t be spending much time alone at his new home at Maymont. The 12-year-old retired race horse recently joined fellow former racer, Arctic Warrior (“Artie”), as a member of Maymont’s two-horse carriage team. Read more.

A world beyond imagination opened to the citizens of Richmond in March 1926. For the first time, the entire community was invited to step inside the gates of Maymont.
