Carriages By Candlelight Highlights Unique Maymont Collection

Maymont will present the second annual Carriages by Candlelight event, a unique celebration of the Maymont Carriage Collection, on Sunday, June 9 from 6 to 9 pm. Guests will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and spirits among beautiful antique carriages displayed on Maymont’s Carriage House Lawn and in the historical Carriage House. Musical entertainment, creative themed displays and carriage rides will add to the magic of the evening. Maymont Beer & Wine Classic Celebrates Virginia Craft Beverages

Beer and wine lovers are invited to raise a glass to local craft beverages on Friday, May 3 from 6-10pm at the bi-annual Beer & Wine Classic at Maymont, presented by Genworth Financial and Altria. Guests can mingle on Maymont’s scenic Carriage House Lawn and enjoy live music from Three Sheets to the Wind, America’s #1 Tribute to Yacht Rock, as they sample some of Virginia’s finest beverages. Maymont Receives $449,224 Grant for Watershed Education from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Maymont has been awarded a $449,224 grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program, which funds locally relevant, authentic experiential learning for K-12 audiences through Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) – multi‐stage activities that include learning both outdoors and in the classroom and aim to increase understanding and stewardship of watersheds and related ocean, coastal, riverine, estuarine, and Great Lakes ecosystems. 125th Anniversary of the Maymont Mansion

The final stages of construction for the mansion at Maymont, including installation of a massive Tiffany window, were chronicled in the local news and surely were the talk of the town in Richmond, Virginia leading up to its completion in 1893. It was the grandest Richmond residence of its time, and today, it stands at the heart of Maymont, the beloved attraction that was recently named Virginia’s best park by Money magazine (May 25, 2018). Say Hello to Maymont’s New Crow

Maymont kicked off the New Year with a new animal addition, welcoming an African pied crow to the estate. Donated to Maymont from a partner in Northern Virginia, the female crow is eight months old. She has been named ‘Ginny,’ short for Virginia, as a nod to her home state and as reference to Edgar Allan Poe, the well-known author with strong ties to Richmond. Read more.
