Maymont’s Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to advance their educational and professional development. Maymont is a dynamic and multi-faceted organization, offering a unique setting for students to apply their experience alongside staff and volunteers within our Horticulture, Zoology, Environmental Education, Mansion and Historical Collections, and Development departments.
Maymont internships are available to current college students or recent graduates (within six months) for either academic credit or to supplement their classroom education. Department supervisors work with interns to develop a project or area of focus that best reflects the intern’s interests and abilities, as well as meet the organization’s needs. Internship options are offered year-round in a variety of departments, with paid opportunities available in the Horticulture and Environmental Education departments during the summer semester. For unpaid internships, school credit may be earned if all school requirements are met.
All applicants are required to fill out an application and submit a cover letter and resume. Additional documents may be required by some departments. Qualified applicants will then be invited to participate in an interview process before final selections are made. Transportation and housing is not provided. Applications will continue to be accepted until positions are filled.
- Spring applications are due by January 17.
- Summer Horticulture applications are due by March 1.
- All other summer applications are due by March 20.
- Fall applications are due by July 3.
