Nature Center & Maymont Mansion

Join us for an exciting day of learning about women in history and life science STEM careers during a variety of fun-filled sessions. Spend the morning, the afternoon or stay the whole day! Snacks provided; girls may bring a bagged lunch. Ages 7-12. $50 for half-day program (morning or afternoon) / $95 for all day. Register online by February 20. Participants will receive more information prior to the program.

Morning

Manners That Shine
Build your confidence and show respect for others as you practice introducing yourself, writing thank you notes, using good telephone manners and being a great guest.

Citizen Science I
Discover and practice wildlife monitoring with Maymont’s partnerships and learn ways you can be a real scientist! This two part program provides an opportunity to receive two badges, but what you really get is the joy of helping to protect the environment.

Listening to the Past
Ladies from the past help you imagine you’re living in 1893 through games, fashions and fascinating stories about people that touched the lives of James and Sallie Dooley, the creators of Gilded Age Maymont.

Outdoor Art
Let Maymont’s beautiful grounds and unique animals be your muse as you create art inspired by the outdoors. Natural materials, animal footprints, and crazy colors will help paint your canvas as a considerate nature artist!

Afternoon

Citizen Science II
While participating in this “Part 2: Citizen Science” you will get hands-on experience with field-based conservation projects right here at Maymont. You’ll be playing your role to protect the environment by building a project to conduct in your community or your own back yard.

Hooves and Wheels
Explore the Carriage Collection, learn about function of historic vehicles and see how to care for the carriage horses.
