100 Years. 100 Acres. One Epic Game.
In celebration of Maymont’s 100th anniversary, we’re inviting our community to take part in an interactive, team-based challenge designed to spark exploration, creativity and connection.
From March 10 through May 24, 2026, participants will complete missions, earn points and work together to lead their team to victory. Some challenges will take you across the estate. Others will highlight Maymont’s history, animals and hidden gems. Many will simply invite you to have fun and celebrate what makes Maymont special. The winning team will be announced at our 100th Birthday Bash on June 6, 2026, where special recognition and prizes await.
Below, you'll find instructions and helpful tips to join the community and compete for glory.

Step 1: Pick a Team
This competition allows any number of participants to join one of the three teams below. You will be working with your teammates to earn the most points for your team as a whole.
- The Big Bears: Powerful and resilient, the bear represents the virtues of courage and protection. Maymont’s notoriously hard-to-spot Big Bear lives out these virtues by foraging for apples, sleeping away winter mornings or taking a dip in the pond on a hot summer day. He is truly an inspiration!
- The Red Foxes: Intelligent and adaptable, a fox’s cunning can turn obstacles into opportunity. Foxes are often seen as spiritual guides to help us follow our intuition through change. Our red fox, Finnley, quickly learned that big puppy dog eyes melt our hearts and result in a lot of treats!
- The Porcupettes: The newest addition to Maymont’s family, these young porcupines love to play. These clumsy cuties can often be found climbing and tumbling about. They may look harmless, but watch out—their quills can pack a punch!
To join a team, your username will need to start with one of these three animals. For example: “Big Bear John Smith” or “Red Fox Debra.” This helps us make sure the points you earn are allocated to your team.

Step 2: Download the Free Goosechase App
Download Goosechase on your device via the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Then follow these steps:
- Create your login using any email address.
- Once inside the app, scan or click on the QR code, or search “Experiences” for Game On: Centennial Challenge and join the game.
- Important: When prompted with “What should we call you?” enter your username exactly as written above, including your team name (e.g., “Porcupette James”). This helps ensure your points are correctly attributed to your team.
Step 3: Game On!
Once you log in, missions will already be available so you can begin earning points right away. New missions will be released regularly, so check back often!
Missions may include:
- Submitting photos
- Visiting specific locations at designated times
- Responding to short written prompts
Be sure to enable camera and location permissions within the app. Minor spelling errors in written responses are perfectly fine—focus on having fun!
All game communication will take place within the Goosechase app via broadcasts. You’ll receive:
- Team point updates
- Announcements about new missions
- Shoutouts for especially creative submissions
Be sure to enable push notifications so you don’t miss opportunities to earn points.
