Toast the fall with friends and family at Bier-Garden on the Carriage House Lawn at Maymont! This two-day German-style festival is the perfect way to celebrate the change of seasons in a beautiful outdoor setting. Join in the world’s largest folk festival without traveling to Munich!

Starting around sunset, dramatic lighting transforms the historic architecture and gardens into a magical experience for all ages. Bring friends, family or a date for an unforgettable night exploring this year’s expanded pathway, featuring art installations from around the world.

Ring in the holiday season at Maymont! Make a new holiday tradition on the Carriage House Lawn with family and friends under the twinkling lights, evergreen garlands and charm of Maymont’s historic corridor. Cozy up to a fire pit with a cup of good cheer or hot cocoa and browse hundreds of unique gift items in a curated local artisan market.

Maymont’s field investigation programs are a great option for homeschooled students! Enrich your student’s environmental science, history and social studies with hands-on experiences and interactive learning tools that take advantage of Maymont’s new facilities as well as the historic 100-acre landscape.

The Robins Nature Center

Themed “Run of the River,” The Robins Nature Center highlights the remarkable ecology of the James River located along Maymont’s southern border in Richmond. The experience also emphasizes the natural history of the area and environmental stewardship opportunities for the community.

Estate Walking Tours

Fridays in September; Times Vary

These walking tours explore the gardens, outbuildings and other estate features that made Maymont a showplace without equal in Gilded Age Richmond. Guests will learn about the design of the Italian garden, the arboretum comprised of rare specimen trees imported in the 1890s, and the uses of the various outbuildings.

Pollinator-Friendly Container Garden Workshop

September 18 & 19; 6–8pm

Create a beautiful container garden with guidance from Maymont staff in this make-and-take workshop. Learn how to customize and care for your container garden. Guests should bring their own gloves; all other materials will be provided.
