One House, Two Worlds

Wednesday, February 21, 11am-12pm, Maymont Mansion
Maymont’s unique history provides a rich resource that awakens students to ideas and events of the past and a connection to how the past affects their lives today. Students examine a complex and often neglected period of history as they explore the perspectives of employer and employee, server and served, represented within Maymont Mansion. Creature Features

Wednesday, March 7, 10-10:45am, Nature Center
All creatures have features that make them special. Come investigate animal senses and defenses, enjoy hands-on activities, and meet a few of Maymont’s education animals. Ages 4-8. $9 per child (includes Nature Center admission). Register online by March 6; for information, call 804-358-7168.

Animal Adaptations

Wednesday, March 7, 11-11:45am, Nature Center
Join us as we discover what helps our animal friends survive in their wild habitats. Participate in several hands-on activities and meet two of Maymont’s animal ambassadors. Ages 9-12. $9 per child (includes Nature Center admission). Register online by March 6; for information, call 804-358-7168.

Habitats of Virginia

Wednesday, March 14, 10-10:45am, Nature Center
Discover several of Virginia’s diverse ecosystems and the animals and plants that call them home. Students will learn about these natural resources and what impact nature and humans have on them. RARE

Wednesday, March 14, 11-11:45am, Nature Center
Pick up your animal passport and learn about the threatened and endangered species housed at Maymont. Examine environmental threats and explore how we can help animals survive and thrive. Life Cycles

Wetland Exploration

Wednesday, March 21, 11am-12pm, Maymont Grounds
Dive in and learn about the small creatures living in the stream that runs through Maymont’s grounds and exhibits. Through field investigations, students will gain a greater understanding of one of our most precious resources, wetlands. This program occurs outside, weather permitting; dress appropriately for the weather and be ready to get your hands dirty! Ages 5 and older. $9 per child (includes Nature Center admission). Bioblitz

Wednesday, March 28, 11am-12pm, Maymont Grounds
Put on your hiking shoes and explore Maymont with us! Hone your observation skills as you help us make a record of all the wild plants and animals on Maymont’s 100 acres.
