Time Travelers: A Free Weekend of Richmond History

Richmond’s most renowned historic homes and museums offer visitors a “passport” to time-travel during a special admission-free weekend on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23, 2018. Tourists and locals alike are invited to discover the City’s treasures, spanning 400 years of fascinating history and including the homes of John Marshall, Jefferson Davis, John Wickham, James Dooley and other important Virginians. Visitors will be entered to win a grand prize drawing which includes items from the museum gift shops. All sites will offer complimentary admission to visitors who show a Time Travelers Passport available via download here. Show your passport on your phone or print a hard copy.

Time Travelers: 125th Anniversary of Maymont Mansion

You are cordially invited to celebrate 125 years of family fun and memories at Maymont! Step back in time to 1893 when James and Sallie Dooley first welcomed friends to their beloved estate, Maymont. Meet Victorian ladies and gentlemen, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and listen to music of the era including a special performance by the John Marshall Alumni Band. Wear your favorite hat, share Maymont memories and enjoy a lively afternoon at one of the City’s most picturesque spots. Food will be available for purchase. Free admission; fees for activities.
