Find something new for your garden – and all your tried-and-true favorites, too – as Richmond’s favorite plant sale, Herbs Galore, springs up at Maymont!
Bring a wagon and shop from dozens of nurseries and specialty vendors spread out on the 6-acre Carriage House Lawn offering an amazing array of annuals, perennials, trees and vegetables, plus garden-inspired accessories and gifts.
To commemorate Maymont’s 100th year, you can participate in a community planting! Learn more below.
On the main stage, enjoy bontanical music from the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra. At the education station, budding young gardeners can learn and play with hands-on crafts and activities.
Make a day of it! Park your purchases at the free plant holding area and explore! The gardens and grounds at Maymont will be in lush bloom, and audio tours of the Italian Garden are free (available 10am-3pm) during the event. Once you've worked up an appetite, enjoy a selection of local food and beverage.

Turmeric, 2026 Herb of the Year
Whether you call it “tur’-mur-ik” or “too’-mur-ik,” the golden-orange rhizome, or underground stem, known as turmeric (Curcuma longa) has been used in many cultures as a culinary spice, a medicinal remedy and as a dye for thousands of years. It’s enjoying a renewed interest for its health benefits, with recent studies confirming the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of its active compound, curcumin. This beautiful and beneficial tropical plant, which is part of the ginger family, can be grown in temperate climates if given special care. The International Herb Association selected it as Herb of the Year for 2026.
