Maymont Serves Up its First Fine-Dining Experience

Closing one of the first crisp days of fall, the sun glows amber as it sets over the picturesque Italian Garden. The garden’s roses – bright, fragrant and in full bloom – surround the pergola, lined with dining tables and draped in soft café lights. A light breeze rustles the Magnolia leaves and makes gentle waves in the tablecloths as the candlelight flickers.

If this sounds like the perfect setting for a dining experience, you’re right – it was. Just ask the 80 people who joined us earlier this month for our first-ever dining experience at Maymont, “For Every Saison: A Five-Course Beer Dinner.”

So what was our recipe for a fantastic dining experience? Five mouth-watering courses designed by four local award-winning chefs and paired with beers from the No. 1 brewery in Richmond. Dale Reitzer (Acacia Mid-Town), Joe Sparatta (Heritage), Lee Gregory (The Roosevelt) and Walter Bundy (Shagbark) prepared courses featuring everything from calamari and roasted beets, to house-made torchio pasta and entire chargrilled rockfish – all of which were thoughtfully paired with Hardywood Park Craft Brewery’s beers.

Garnering recognition from National Geographic, Travel + Leisure and Garden & Gun (to name a few), Richmond’s food and drink scene has made one thing abundantly clear: Virginia isn’t just for lovers. It’s for food-lovers. Maymont looks forward to continuing its relationship with esteemed local chefs, restauranteurs and brewers for more creative dining experiences at the estate in the future. Stay tuned!

Maymont would like to give a special thanks to our event sponsors: Trust Company of Virginia and Mosaic Catering + Events.
