X-Country Festival

Maymont provides a spectacular setting for one of the premier running festivals in the country.

Friday, September 26-Saturday, September 27
Maymont Grounds

Maymont is a cross country runner’s dream. From the rolling hills and expansive vistas to picturesque architecture and native wildlife exhibits, the estate is the perfect backdrop for a fall race. With an open 5k, an 8-mile trail run, an elementary school 1-miler, a middle school 3k and a competitive high school invitational, the Maymont X-Country Festival has something for everyone. The beautiful course starts near Maymont Mansion and doubles back on itself several times allowing spectators easy visibility to multiple points along the course. The course takes runners past large oak and magnolia trees along with deer, bison and other animals in the animal habitat areas. In Byrd Park, runners will pass a lake and scenic sculptures before returning to Maymont. The course then passes by the Children's Farm at Maymont before heading back to Maymont Mansion and the finish line.

The Festival is organized by the Sports Backers, known for their high quality races including the Anthem Richmond Marathon and the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k. A portion of the proceeds benefit Maymont. For information, visit the Sports Backers website or call 804-285-9495. Service animals only, please.
